All About

Mark Shepard and Peace

In 1978–79, Mark travelled around the world to meet modern‑day “successors” of Mahatma Gandhi in India, France, and the United States. Out of these visits came two books—Gandhi Today and The Community of the Ark—plus a series of articles that appeared in over 30 publications in nine countries. Mark became recognized as a foremost authority on Gandhi and on the Gandhi Movement in India today. His books are unique and invaluable as first‑hand reports of significant individuals, projects, and movements in the field of nonviolent social alternatives.

Mark now lives in Bellingham, Washington. Though no longer active in the nonviolence movement, he is pleased to make his earlier work available through his books and on the Web.
